I’m a Web Developer with an interest in independent web sites and applications, data portability, and user interfaces. I have a resume I created using the excellent Resume Builder with information from my LinkedIn profile. My email address can be found on my GitHub profile.
My largest projects so far have been a CRM system and a directory of locations. While developing them I saw the challenges in reusing software. I see content managements with wiki features, administrative interfaces, version control systems that integrate into applications, and document-oriented databases as solutions. I have a concept of a wiki for data, or a semantic wiki, as a way to more quickly build data applications for the web. I am researching in this area and building things like outliner.js, a JSON diff/patch tool, and a generic Resource Infobox plugin. I have an open source profile page that shows what I’m currently working on.
I’m an advocate of free and open source software. I am preparing for the Open Source Bridge Conference and the Indie Web Camp next June. This blog is powered by WordPress running on a VPS, with some custom plugins. I’m not as opinionated about which programming stack to use as I used to be, but I’m more opinionated than ever about what I ought to be allowed to do with my own computers.
I’m active in the tech community in Boulder. I go to events like Boulder Ruby User Group, BoulderJS, Ignite Boulder, and TEDxBoulder.
Besides programming, my interests include product design, traveling, cycling, literature, and music.

Hi Benjamin,
I came across your profile on LinkedIn today and I’d like to see if you are currently pursuing new job opportunities?
I have a Ruby on Rails contract position (contract to hire) in the Denver area, please let me know if you are available and interested. (If you are not, but know someone who is, please feel free to pass along my contact details.)
Thanks!!
